Get ready for some *NSYNC!
Breaking out in a (surprise!) choreographed dance number at your wedding should definitely become a staple part of all weddings. Remember when a bride and her bridesmaids performed that epic Beyoncé tribute? Now there’s a viral video of Mikayla Ellison Phillips and her father, Nathan Ellison, stopping the traditional father-daughter slow dance mid-way through to bust some moves, MC Hammer-style.
At Mikayla’s wedding in Utah last month, 400 friends and family members look on as she and Nathan started their traditional father-daughter dance to “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle. Then a scratch of a record is heard and the duo broke out their sunglasses and performed a funky mashup of MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This,” *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” and more.
Mikayla, 25, told Good Morning America she’s a trained dancer and has performed her whole life — her dad, however, works in sales and computer technology. They spent the week before the wedding choreographing the dance and rehearsing for their epic performance; Mikayla’s now-husband Cody mashed up the music for them.
The duo had discussed putting together this dance for years before her wedding. Mikayla told Good Morning America the best thing about doing the dance was seeing how happy her dad was. “That was a dream fulfilled,” she said.
